About Cherrystone

Originally founded in 1967 as a retail store, Cherrystone has grown into one of the world’s leading philatelic auction houses, specializing in high-quality United States and Worldwide postal history, including some of the great Rarities of the World.

We now offer a selection of affordable singles and sets from all over the world on our retail website, satisfying the needs of collectors 24 hours a day, from anywhere in the world.

Cherrystone Auctions

Our public auctions, which are held every six weeks in our New York galleries, regularly offer over 2,000 lots, ranging in price from $150 to $100,000. Our sales always feature material from the United States, including Classics, Air Post, Proofs and Essays, and back of the book items.

Our Worldwide selection, far and away the most comprehensive offerings in America, always feature Asia, including China and Japan, France and Colonies, German Area including States, Colonies and Occupation, Great Britain with British Commonwealth, Poland and Russia, and much more.

Over the past two years, Cherrystone has brought close to 35,000 lots to auction, with realizations totaling over $30 million. Over this period, we have conducted many important “single owner sales”, including the Philatelic Stock of John Ross, The Versailles Collection of French Proofs and Artists Drawings, offered in three separate sales on behalf of the Catholic Archdiocese of Las Cruces, New Mexico, The Alex “Sandor” Kvassay Collection of Worldwide Air Mail, The Grabowski Collection of Poland, the Philatelic Stock of Roman Burkiwiecz, the “Famed” Stock of Souren Serebrakian, The Mikulski Collection of Imperial Russia, The Roger Szymanski Air Mail Collection, as well as an Investment Portfolio of United States Rarities.

Cherrystone is a member of all major U.S. and European Philatelic Societies, including the APS, ASDA, Philatelic Traders Society, APHV, IFSDA, Collectors Club of New York, AIEP, Rossica and MEPSI.

Still family owned and operated, Cherrystone is the preferred auction destination for both the purchase and sale of rare and valuable stamps and postal history.
